MEET TOM

Tomas Havel is an award-winning landscape photographer from the Czech Republic. His work has been published on some of the biggest media channels such as National Geographic, Nasa, or Discovery. Tom is an official National Geographic Your Shot contributor. He aims to capture a pristine landscape by using his own vision and unique style and show some of the most amazing places on Earth.

“I have been fascinated by the possibilities of photography since my early childhood, all I have wanted to do was create. I grew up in a beautiful forest region exploring the wild and spending most of my free time in nature. Nothing makes me happier than hiking a mountain and seeing the world from a different angle. I have discovered my true love for photography during my first trip to Northern Norway. Traveling puts me in a wonderful headspace, which inspires me to create.”

Ever since he has been enthusiastic about traveling and he has constantly sought out adventure and unique views. Over the years, and a multitude of miles traveled, his images have been featured in many exciting projects and his shots have got into many magazines.

It's very hard to create something unique in the infinite world of photography. Tom is most known for his self-portraits from Northern Norway, showcasing with a caption “sitting on the edge”.

“I try to present just how small humans are in comparison to the nature that surrounds us and show the most beautiful sceneries of our planet. We have to look around and realize how tiny we and our problems, that we are constantly solving, are. I want to show people that our planet is beautiful and we should respect it and care for it as well as we can. I want to motivate people to discover new places and spend some time in nature. And of course, it is a way of creative expression that I simply need in my life.” For National Geographic.

Beyond this, he has always been passionate about astrophotography and he constantly studies new shooting and editing techniques. Aside from his fine artwork, Tom’s specialties also include commercial and lifestyle photography.
